Aquarium

Last year we decided that we had so much stuff that there wasn't any need to give gifts for Christmas.  The grandparents do that aplenty so we decided to leave the toy bearing to them.  Phil and I settled on Kansas City as our family's Christmas memory making haven.  We were on the road in excellent time (only five minutes past our set limit, not bad for us!) and made the trek down.  The kids were great and had fun chatting and reading the whole way.  Even Miles was amazing, he rarely fussed about being cooped up in the carseat.

We had only told the kids about Lego Land and nothing else.  We gave them clues as to what we were doing, but there were no correct guesses.  The amusing part was walking up to the aquarium which is right next door to Lego Land.  The kids saw the Legos but not the sea life and were totally confused until we pointed it out to them.  They were all pretty excited.  When the older ones started jumping up and down cheering Miles did the same in the carrier which brought a big smile to my face.

I have wanted to go to an Aquarium for years.  We wanted to on our babymooning trip while pregnant with Abi but turned around and left after seeing the prices.  The aqua life portion at the Henry Dooley Zoo is by far my favorite with the penguins being a close second (anyone else find those tuxedoed birds fascinating?).  Therefore, this was a real treat for me.  I wasn't the only one to enjoy myself.  The girls had a blast pointing everything out.  Seeing Miles' excitement was just as satisfying as watching the sea life.  Wesley was slightly 'keerd' or scared the whole time, and the touch pools freaked him out close to tears.  Phil was ambivalent about the aquarium, so he passed the time by taking pictures and then holding Miles when my arms ached.

Instead of boring you with the 'fin' facts that we learned, I'll just let you see Sea Life through our lens.
